Biography
Professor Jonathan Beck’s research focuses on consumer-based marketing strategy, where he leverages theories from psychology to explain the impact of marketing efforts on evaluations and behavior at the consumer or employee levels. Within this domain, he conducts research on digital marketing topics such as online customer reviews and electronic word of mouth, as well as areas such as services marketing strategy and loyalty program design and effectiveness. His research has appeared in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, and Journal of Services Marketing.

Biography
Burcu Bolukbasi Arikan started working as a visiting assistant professor and is currently working as a lecturer at the University of Kansas School of Business. Before joining KU, she was a research and teaching assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At KU, she teaches Statistics for the online MBA and Statistical Decision Making for the MS in Supply Chain Management programs, in addition to teaching Data Analysis and Forecasting for undergraduate students. Previously, she taught Statistical Decision Making in the Working Professional MBA program, Quantitative Methods and Data Analysis, and Human Resources Management courses for undergraduate students at KU. She received her B.S. degree in psychology and a minor in sociology from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She received an M.A. degree from the School of Communication at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida.

Biography
Dr. Steven Boylan as an associate professor in the Department of Command & Leadership, Command and General Staff College focusing on leadership instruction, as well as developing curriculum for 1,200 students on media and public affairs. He is co-author for core curriculum “Inform and Influence Activities” and author for Advanced Leadership, “Risk and Adaptability.” He manages annual national media panels conducted to help students gain a better understanding of media issues regarding the military. He is the author of numerous published articles. His work has appeared in the Journal of Leadership Education (JOLE), Military Review, the Small Wars Journal, Foreign Policy, and Military Times. Boylan’s published book reviews include “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus,” and “Leading the Narrative: A Case for Strategic Communication.” He retired from the U.S. Army as a colonel in 2010 having served in both Army Aviation and Public Affairs.

Amii Castle served as a law clerk for three federal judges: Judge Pasco M. Bowman, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals; District Judge Carlos Murguia, District of Kansas; and Chief Magistrate Judge James P. O’Hara, District of Kansas. In addition to clerking, she practiced law in the private sector, at both plaintiff and defense firms, specializing in commercial and class-action litigation in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

Biography
Gjergji Cici is the Koch Professor in Business Economics at the University of Kansas School of Business. He also is a research fellow at the Centre for Financial Research at the University of Cologne, Germany. Prior to joining KU in 2018, he was the Thomas L. Owen Professor and associate professor of finance at the College of William & Mary. After receiving his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Minnesota, he became associate director of research for Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) at the Wharton School of Business.
His research has been published in Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Journal of Banking and Finance, among others. Professor Cici's research has been discussed in various regulatory proposals related to the mutual fund industry and featured in more than 40 articles in the business press, including the Financial Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Bloomberg, and Pensions & Investments.

Biography
Kelly Crane began her career working in marketing in the music industry in Austin, Texas, and has since worked in director-level and vice president-level marketing roles with companies in a multitude of industries including entertainment, healthcare, telecommunications and advertising. She has more than 30 years of experience in advertising agencies, corporate environments, and the public sector.
She is the former director of the KU School of Journalism’s Integrated Marketing Communications graduate program where she taught relationship marketing and the program’s capstone course to working adult graduate students. As someone who went back to graduate school late in life, Crane's passion is working with others who are juggling career, family and the goal of earning a master's degree.
Crane is the Area Industry Mentor for Marketing students at the business school. In this role, she helps students prepare for careers in marketing by coaching them on networking, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles, as well as advising them on the courses, certifications, and extracurricular activities needed to secure the jobs they desire.
Crane has used her marketing skills and experience to produce mainstage events for a regional conference for foster and adoptive parents. She also volunteers for the Barnabas Group, where she coaches leaders of nonprofits on communications and presentation skills. In that role she has also co-created a pro-bono workshop on brand storytelling and social media strategy for non-profits.

Biography
Mr. Galindau has been teaching at the University of Kansas since 2005. A San Francisco native, Mr. Galindau spent his undergraduate years at UCLA and served in the U.S. Navy for four years before earning his MBA from the University of Southern California. Mr. Galindau's professional experience includes 20 years with the Hilti Corporation, a European manufacturer of construction tools, fasteners, and supplies; he spent 11 of these years working and living in the Asia Pacific region. During his time in Asia, Mr. Galindau served as the general manager for Hilti's South Korea organization for five years while living in Seoul. He spent six years as the president of Hilti's Asia Pacific region while living in Hong Kong. Mr. Galindau oversaw hundreds of employees and managed over $300 million in revenue, all while dealing with challenging situations related to the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s.
Mr. Galindau places a high premium on sharing his personal experiences and expertise in managing an organization internationally. He stresses the critical role of cultural intelligence and provides several specific examples of cross-cultural communication that he experienced as an American who worked 20 years for a European company in 11 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

Biography
Art Hall is the founding executive director of the Center for Applied Economics at the University of Kansas School of Business. Before joining the KU School of Business, Hall was chief economist in the public affairs group of Wichita, KS-based Koch Industries, Inc. In that capacity, he worked with business leaders to help define how public policy initiatives would influence the structure of the markets in which the company participates. Koch sponsored Hall’s directorship of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius’ Budget Efficiency Savings Teams from April 2003 until his departure from the firm in February 2004.
Before joining Koch Industries in May 1997, Hall was senior economist at Tax Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., where he produced quantitative and qualitative research pertaining to the economics of taxation and acted as an economic advisor to The National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform. Before that, Hall worked as a financial economist at the U.S. General Accounting Office. Hall has taught university economics at both the undergraduate and MBA level. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia and his B.A. in economics from Emory University.

She is also involved with the Professional Selling Program and serves as a coach for teams competing at national sales competitions.

Midam Kim, PhD is a research specialist and lecturer in the School of Business at the University of Kansas. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University, and her B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of linguistics and management. Her current research explores how the origin and gender of CEOs affect their leadership and how their speech, voice, and language use can mitigate the relationship.

Steve Leonard is an award-winning faculty member at the University of Kansas School of Business, where he serves as the assistant area director for Management and Entrepreneurship and is a Professor of the Practice. A former senior military strategist, he is a career writer and speaker with a passion for developing and mentoring the next generation of thought leaders. He is a co-founder and emeritus board member of the Military Writers Guild; the co-founder of the national security blog, Divergent Options; a member of the editorial review boards of Military Strategy Magazine and the Arthur D. Simons Center’s Interagency Journal; and an emeritus senior fellow at the Modern War Institute at West Point. Published extensively, he pens a weekly editorial column, Point of Departure, where his writing focuses on issues of foreign policy, national security, strategy and planning, leadership and leader development. He is the author, co-author, or editor of several books, including Power Up (Casemate, 2023), To Boldly Go (Casemate, 2021), Why We Write (Middle West Press, 2019), Winning Westeros (Potomac Books, 2019), and Strategy Strikes Back (Potomac Books, 2018). He is currently working on his next book with Howgate Publishing.
Professor Leonard received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Idaho in 1987 and his master’s degree in systems management from Murray State University in 1990. He began his Army career as a logistics officer, later specializing in strategic planning and policy. He served in a variety of command and staff positions during his time in uniform, including assignments in the United States, Europe, Korea, and the Middle East. He served two combat tours in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division, and another with the staff of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, where he was the principal military assistant to the Deputy National Security Advisor of the Government of Iraq and the senior advisor to the commanding general of Iraq’s National Defense University.

Yexin Jessica Li is a marketing professor in the School of Business at the University of Kansas. She received a B.S. in biology from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in social psychology from Arizona State University. Jessica’s research applies psychological theories to marketing and business contexts. Her substantive interests are in social perception, corporate social responsibility, and prosocial behavior. She has given invited presentations to both academics and industry professionals, and her research is regularly mentioned in the media. Nathan Meikle is an assistant professor in the KU School of Business. He researches social perception and its implications for organizations. Specifically, he examines the cues people use to form impressions (e.g., confidence, deference) and the biases that affect people's perceptions (e.g., motivated reasoning, exponential growth bias). His research on social perception and bias has been published in The Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, The Journal of Business Ethics, Research in Organizational Behavior, Harvard Business Review, and The Oxford Handbook of Advice.

After receiving her undergraduate degree with a Finance and Math minor from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Dr. Claire Rosenfeld worked for Anderson Consulting, now Accenture, as a business process analyst. She also served as a business process analyst in Turnaround Management at BDO. Rosenfeld subsequently returned to school and earned her Ph.D. in Finance from University of Minnesota. She wrote her dissertation on banking relationships: how companies affect banks and banks affect companies. Upon completing her degree, she was a financial economist for the FDIC for two years and then was an assistant professor at William & Mary's Raymond A. Mason School of Business for nine years where she taught, among other course, Introduction to Finance in the undergraduate and part-time evening MBA programs. In fall 2018, she returned to her Midwestern roots and joined KU. She is now assistant area director and advisor to Women in Finance, an undergraduate student organization. She lives in Lawrence with her husband and two boys.

Biography
Cynthia's research and creative work has focused on management and leadership to include ethical standards as well as project management. Her dissertation examined cultural orientation and its influence upon academic misconduct in an AACSB-accredited Business School. Her creative and research interests also include project management curriculum. She has written two project management textbooks which are currently provided at no cost to students in the project management courses she teaches at KU. As the Assistant Area Director, Cynthia is responsible for oversight of all instructional activities for the Management area, which includes course/instructor scheduling for academic offerings for each semester. She is also responsible for supporting the Area Director for special projects. As an Associate Teaching Professor, Cynthia is responsible for utilizing her professional business and training expertise to develop curriculum and instruct several graduate and undergraduate courses in the Business School.

Jide Wintoki is the associate dean of graduate programs and Capitol Federal Professor of Finance at the University of Kansas School of Business. From 2019 to 2022 he also served as area director of Analytics, Information, and Operations Management (AIO). His research interests include empirical corporate finance, international finance, and applied econometrics. Prior to joining KU in 2008, he taught at the Terry College of Business of the University of Georgia where he also obtained a Ph.D. in Finance. In addition to research, Professor Wintoki teaches classes in Corporate Financial Policy, Business Investments, Business Finance, and International Finance at the undergraduate and graduate level. He has also served as visiting financial economist in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Prior to his studies at Georgia, he completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at the University of Lagos. He also worked in a variety of positions with ExxonMobil, Procter & Gamble, and NLNG.
